What attributes contribute to the Druid’s strength

What attributes contribute to the Druid’s strength? I’ve heard that the Druid encounters difficulties while leveling, but becomes highly potent in the late game. Is this due to Paragon points, specific unique equipment, or is the strength exaggerated?

I’ve decided to give the Druid a try, and I’m currently in the early stages of the game. I’m curious about how the progression unfolds.

The Druid can arguably be considered the most powerful class in the end game. While it’s true that some claim the Druid faces challenges during early game, there exist some quite potent leveling strategies.

The exceptional power in the end game emerges from a multitude of factors. Many classes have distinct builds for battling Lilith, pushing Tier 100 content, and efficiently clearing Tier 50 runs. These builds often differ from one another. The Tornado build for Druid, however, stands as one of the very few that can excel across all these domains, making it possibly the most versatile and potent endgame specialization.

When you include aspects like Bulwark (arguably the best Tier 100 push build in the game), Lightning Shred and Lightning Storm (two of the swiftest speed-centric builds), Shrednado (a top-notch Lilith strategy), along with versatile and potent all-around approaches like Pulverize and Poison Trampleslide, the Druid boasts a multitude of options – and highly effective ones, at that.

While the struggles of early game leveling can be noted, they should be considered relative to other classes, with Barbarians being the next slowest.

In Season 1, the inclusion of the Subterranean aspect to the Codex provided significant relief. Additionally, recent hotfixes that buffed summons – already reasonable for leveling – have improved the experience considerably, making them viable up to the mid-60s in Nightmare mode as well as for general leveling up to level 100.

Before these adjustments, Lightning Storm was the primary viable leveling build. While there are other suggestions like the Tornado build on Maxroll and similar options, they aren’t as effective and often require specific aspects to truly shine (Tornado especially benefits from Stormchaser, or it can feel quite random).

However, it’s important to note that the Druid still tends to be slower in leveling than the other five classes. This distinction becomes more pronounced when starting from scratch – with no additional stat points from renown.

The strength of the Druid lies within its synergies, which must come together for its true potential to manifest.

This dynamic changes, of course, if you’ve already maxed out your renown, as the Druid’s effectiveness ramps up sooner in this case.
